Victory Martial Arts Raised Over $3,000 For Local Red Cross Chapter
The Victory Martial Arts program in Brookings recently hosted a Break-A-Thon event on Saturday, December 4 to raise money for the local Brookings County Red Cross. The annual event was once again a huge success with Victory Martial Arts students raising over $3,000 in donations for the local Red Cross Chapter. Students of the program hit the streets in November to raise money for the event by seeking support from family, friends, and neighbors. There were over 25 student participants with some students raising money in the range of $200 to $500 individually.

“The event was a great opportunity for our students to learn the value of giving back to their community. We strive at Victory Martial Arts to teach our students the importance of being leaders in the community and helping those in need. The flood event in Brookings County left the local Red Cross chapter strapped for resources, so I am very pleased that our program could help them when they needed it most. The students worked hard to seek donations and they were rewarded with a job well done.” Says Miss Jennifer Briggs, owner of Victory Martial Arts.

Each student of Victory Martial Arts broke 10 boards each, using various kicks, elbow, knee and hand movements. Sponsors for each student were asked to make a specific pledge per board or just a simple donation.

The fundraiser was aimed at ***isting the Brookings Red Cross Chapter with daily needs as well as for the services they provide to the local county community.

Along with the support of donations raised by students, several local businesses also rallied to the cause with special thanks to the following sponsors of the event: Kleinjan Chiropractic, ASC Automotive Service Center, Brookings Radio, Dairy Queen, Prairie Graphics, and Homestead Do It Center.

A special thank you to Homestead Do It Center for donating over 400 boards for the event!
